SIVA MANASULA SAKTHI

SMS: not worth a place in your inbox.

There is nothing new in the plot. It is the presentation that has to save the day. Jeeva walks through a role that has too little for him to do. Debutante Anuya hardly does anything to impress. Santhanam too is another case of under utilization, but there are a couple of scenes where the humor is enjoyable, one of the very few saving graces of the movie. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the silver lining of SMS. His re-recording is good. (more)

Time pass.

Siva Manasula Sakthi (SMS) treads a safe path. It does not take itself seriously, and more importantly, debutant director M Rajesh has chosen to present a comic skit. And it works to some extent in the first half at least. For the rest, he has leaned on old films to give a fillip to what is now standard fare in Tamil cinema. Rajesh seems to have spent more time working on laugh lines, instead of paying attention to the story. (more)

Another time-pass , run of-the-mill film.

It's the script that is silly; blame it on the dialogue and situation. Yuvan's music is peppy, but picturisation is tacky. There is no chemistry between the lead pair. Jeeva is a joy to watch but has a tendency to go over the top. However at the end if you come away smiling it's only because of the shenanigans of Urvasi, Santhanam, Sathyan and Jeeva. (more)

A clichéd SMS.

Directed by debutant Rajesh M, the film has romance loaded heavily inter spread with comedy. Unfortunately in taking this conscious path, the director seems to have lost track of the screenplay. Beginning with a brim of hope, it loses its way in the middle only to end on a clichéd path. However had he paid more attention in his characterization and made the screenplay more cogent, this SMS would be often read and forwarded. (more)

Youthful all right, but could have had some substance too.

Liveliness with a capital 'L' marks debut-making writer-director M.Rajesh's venture, Siva Manasula Sakthi. No doubt, 'SMS' has enough ingredients to lure youth; sustaining their interest throughout is another issue. Rajesh's dialogue sparkles with intelligence and his direction reveals that he’s a technician with potential. It is the screenplay that fails to deliver. Jiiva has switched over to a role that suits his age and does a neat job. Anuya (a debutant) gets her expressions right. Santhanam has a neat, humorous part lined up. (more)

A good experience.

'Siva Manasula Sakthi' is a youthful entertainer. SMS will definitely make you enjoy the experiences. With his local lingo, casual attitude and typical youthful behavior, Jeeva is the one who steals the show. Yuvan's tunes are full of stylish raps and rocking music. Camera by Sakthi Saravanan travel along with the story. Rajesh M. has presented a truly youth-related storyline through SMS. Many scenes reflect reality and hence it should be well-received.(more)
