Old wine in an older bottle.
For Jeeva who generally chooses varied and challenging characters, this film will be just one more addition to his kitty and nothing more. Poonam Bajwa the heroine who has nothing to offer. Debutant director V V Kathir who is in charge of story, screen play and direction should have taken extra care. Music by Srikanth Deva does not impress. Cinematography is just ordinary. Stunt scenes by Sumo Arasu do not try anything new.(more)

Avoidable.
It's hard to believe that there are still audiences for films like Thenavattu. Playing wildly to the gallery or what the trade calls B & C viewers, the film leaves you almost brain dead! Like it or not, in terms of its story idea, scripting, direction and in virtually every aspect, V.V Kathir's debut film has no logic or plot. Srikanth Deva's music is pathetic. As for the performances, well, absolutely no comments. (more)

Silly and ridiculous.
Srikanth Deva's music is largely forgettable. Anal Arasu, the stunt guy has realized the full potential of this action flick and had a blast. But the culprit clearly is V V Kathir, who's come up with a half-baked script that manages to destroy even Jeeva's credibility. This flick is all aruvaal and no brains. (more)

A commercial cocktail.
Kathir has rendered a movie that is one-dimensional with characters uttering racy dialogues. Jeeva has played his part well. Poonam Bajwa has played her role with ease and delivers. Ganja Karuppu's comedy is not hilarious but good to an extent. Srikanth Deva's music adds pep. The racy tunes coupled with peppy beats makes the spectators tap their foot. 'Thenavattu' is sure to make it big among the B and C centre audiences. (more)

Jeeva joins the action league!
All the clichés of a commercial film are here. And so is a speedy screenplay. Jeeva aims for a full-fledged action rung this time and impresses. Kanja Karuppu talks a lot in the name of comedy, but fails to tickle. Poonam Bajwa, the pretty heroine gets her expressions right. 'Anal' Arasu's stunts help Jeeva appear invincible. This is for purely for action buffs for whom realism is no issue at all! (more)
