Little dhaam, no dhoom.

Enough fodder for a thriller movie, you would think. But the screenplay is not taut enough. The comedy that takes place in the village is funny in parts. Jeeva's cinematography is brilliant and evocative of his unbeaten career. Many a times in the movie Harris Jayaraj proves to be a big plus – the songs, coupled with cinematography shot in remarkably breathtaking locations, make the viewer sit and take note, something the script and screenplay could not do.(more)

Worth watching.

The movie undoubtedly belongs to Jeyam Ravi. The star, however, is Jeeva's screenplay, which manages to sustain your interest pretty much throughout. Harris Jeyaraj's music wins in the background score. V T Vijayan's editing recognizes the emotional, suspenseful roller-coaster ride of the movie - and does a neat job. With logic, good performances and sound music, Dhaam Dhoom is definitely worth a watch. (more)

Could have been honed.

Cinematographer-writer-director Jeeva's films stand apart for the sheen of his frames on celluloid, stories that are different and for direction that is always a cut above the usual. Once again in Dhaam Dhoom, the young technician brings in a fresh dimension to action cinema in tandem with breathtaking visuals. The denouement takes place too quickly, before you can actually gather how things fall in place. Why the haste? It spoils the thrill built up till that moment. (more)

Mindless time-pass movie.

It looks like Jeeva's assistant Manikandan along with Harris Jayaraj has made Dhaam Dhoom as a sort of musical tribute to the late filmmaker. The film lacks a solid story, is disjointed, and has continuity problems with a very predictable lackluster ending. The highlight of the movie is the music of Harris Jayaraj, shot in music video style by Manikandan in never seen before picturesque locations. It is an out and out Jayam Ravi movie.(more)

CLASSY AND ENGROSSING.

Cinematography, Art Direction and the Background Score truly comply with international standards and blend perfectly well with the mood of the film. Jayam Ravi is probably the perfect choice to play his character. The onscreen chemistry between Jayam Ravi and Kangana Ranaut is telling and works wonders for the film. Lakshmi Rai and Jayaram fit into their characters with ease and style. Harris Jayaraj's songs are pleasant to hear. (more)
