Packs a punch.
Ayan's screenplay does the trick – brilliantly choreographed stunts and car chase sequences, cleverly planted twists at every nook and corner of the plot and some good music. Ayan proves to be an absolute time pass fare. For a little more than two hours, it would be an offense to call Ayan just another commercial potboiler. Director K V Anand’s research is evident in the tightly packed screenplay. Ayan is fun. (more)

Ayan is never-a-dull moment action entertainer.
K.V Anand pushes the commercial cinematic envelope and brings a savvy freshness in treatment and packaging hitherto unexplored in Ayan. It’s breezy, racy, fun ride that keeps you glued to your seats for 2 hours and 38 minutes. The story may be old as the hills but the narration and the way it unfolds is perfect. Harris Jayaraj’s music is peppy and the background score is awesome. M.S Prabhu's camera is eye catching. Surya belts out a convincing performance and carries the film to the winning post. (more)

Hail Action! - Ayan.
‘Ayan’ is Suriya’s show all the way. The beauty angle is taken care of by the bewitching Tamannah. Besides Suriya, the other bests of ‘Ayan’ are the work of the lens man (M.S. Prabhu) and stunt chief Kanal Kannan, and the exotic locations through which ‘Ayan’ travels. More than sound, Harris Jeyaraj’s silences in the re-recording impact the viewer. Dialogue is poignant in some scenes, humorous in others and contrived in a few. (more)

Ayan is a must-watch.
Directed by cinematographer-turned-director K V Anand -- Ayan is not just a masala film but a fairly logical one too. Jagan makes you sit up with his laugh-aloud moments. Harris Jeyaraj's numbers are chart-busters already. M S Prabhu's camera-work is beautiful; the foreign locales are breath-taking, while the chase sequences put you on the edge of your seat. Antony's slick editing adds polish. Rajeevan's art fits the bill perfectly. Subha's dialogues are spot-on.(more)

Attractive, agile and amazing.
The striking feature of the movie is Suriya’s amazing screen-presence. ‘Ayan’ is a perfect summer entertainer. Though the storyline is familiar and oft-seen in the past, the pacy narration and captivating visuals provide the necessary pep to the film. Anand’s packaging of this commercial entertainer is sophisticated but would appeal to all sections. ‘Ayan’ is a riveting and racy, right from the word go. (more)
