Suriya acts as Bodhidharman who lived in 6th Century. Legend says he faced the wall for nine years at Shaolin temple and made a hole with his stare. One may remember Ram Gopal Varma calling Suriya as "Mr. Eyes" and had expressed his appreciation for the range of powerful emotions he could communicate through his eyes.
Who is Bodhi Dharman?
Bodhidharman was a Buddhist monk who lived during the 5th/6th century and is traditionally credited as the leading trasmitter of Zen to China. He was a Tamil prince from southern India's Pallava Empire. Scholars have concluded his place of birth to be Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. According to Chinese legend, he also began the physical training of the Shaolin monks. Little information on Bodhidharma is available and subsequent accounts of his life have been systematically deleted from history.
