Zid Movie Review

When the director disowns a movie, the result will never be a happy one and that is exactly what has happened with this misfit erotic thriller. Instead of being hot and gripping, it is rather very disgusting, stupid and dull. The actors too have not been able to deliver a worthy performance.

Rohan (Karanvir) works as a crime journalist and finds a rented house in Goa, where he encounters Maya (Mannara) who falls in love with him while for Rohan, it is just a casual affair. The story begins to break apart when the two get involved in a hit-and-run case. Instead of telling the truth, Rohan falls in love with the victim’s sister Priya (Shraddha Das), also his ex-girlfriend & Maya finds him cheating on her. Her obsession grows to a certain level that she decides to make Priya's life a living hell to get back her love.

The overambitious storyline takes incidences from a whole lot of classic thriller mysteries but with obvious plot holes and lack of layering. It comes close to be a copy of The Good Neighbour but again – ‘Nakal Ke Liye Bhi Akal Chahiye’. Though the background score gives you a little goose bumps along with great help from the cinematographer but that is all.

Karanvir Sharma as Rohan is dull performer and remains puzzled throughout the movie. He just doesn’t know what to do. The PC cousin Mannara as Maya is far from matching her in terms of acting skills. She is an immature actor who has to learn a lot before taking up psychotic characters. Shraddha Das as Priya is average and no real screen space to act.

Zid gasps for a better storyline, direction, performances and pretty much everything. Zid misfits as a erotic thriller and should not be given a chance to trouble the audience. Skip it.
