Zid misfits as a erotic thriller and should not be given a chance to trouble the audience. Skip it.

Rohan (Karanvir) works as a crime journalist and finds a rented house in Goa, where he encounters Maya (Mannara) who falls in love with him while for Rohan, it is just a casual affair. The story begins to break apart when the two get involved in a hit-and-run case. Instead of telling the truth, Rohan falls in love with the victims sister Priya (Shraddha Das), also his ex-girlfriend & Maya finds him cheating on her. Her obsession grows to a certain level that she decides to make Priya's life a living hell to get back her love. (more)

"It's time for a standing ovation." I rest my case.

'Zid' is nothing like we have never seen before - it's a story of how love, lust and obsession can drive someone to crime and insanity. Of course, there are the usual suspects - like a love triangle, a cocky detective, some lame witnesses, and stormy nights (every time crime unfolds). Praise the heavens! Ronnie (Karanvir) a crime reporter based in Goa is coping with memories of his ex-girlfriend. His over-zealous boss advises him to get 'laid' to get over the past, and says, "Your cabin is like your sex life." Dull, dark and dusty that is.(more)

ZID is a very average thriller which has no stellar performances or a meaningful storyline.

ZID starts off with a flashback which has the film's protagonist Rohan (Karanvir Sharma), who is a crime reporter by profession, narrating an incident to his newspaper's editor (Mohan Kapoor) and the area's DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police). He says that with the help of the editor, he found a rented house at his friend's outhouse. Even though the said place looks haunted, Rohan still adjusts himself to the situation despite having 'an absolute motionless and emotionless owner' who is wheel chair driven throughout and who also happens to be the father of Maya (debutante Manara). For Manara, it is love at first sight when she sees Rohan, who incidentally is 'recovering' from a breakup with Priya (Shraddha Das), his girlfriend of many years and who is now settled in London.(more)

The predictability of the story, the climax, the anti climax.

Zid is a poorly acted, shabbily made, a pretty bad film that you wont believe has the touch of Vivek Agnihotri whose Buddha In A Traffic Jam wowed you in MAMI this year. What talented people do to become commercially viable! The film calls itself a thriller and if you have watched atleast a dozen of decent thrillers, you know where it is headed. Karanvir is watchable but Manara with her shrill voice and synthetic acting isnt good enough as the female lead on whose shoulders the narrative rests. I blame it on her inexperience because her DNA proves otherwise. Half way through Zid, youll be frustrated, tired out, awaiting the glorious moment when the excruciating pain of watching Zid will finally be over and done with. Yes, I hated it that bad!(more)

Zid is more idiotic than erotic.

The only thing Zid has going for it is the atmospheric chills it offers by way of perennially grey skies, dense foliage around the bungalow and beyond, and the sense of distant melancholy the camera lends to the scenes. But I guess that alone doesn't cut it in the erotic thriller genre now, does it? (more)
