Action Jackson Music Review - “RIP Michael Jackson”
Anup Pandey
Music: Himesh Reshammiya
Lyrics: Shabbir Ahmed/ Sameer Anjaan
1. Keeda
In which Himesh sings like Anu Malik. Get the idea how bad is this song? Not even Neeti Mohan could
save the song, she hardly got any part. And I don’t get it why a song this bad would get a remix and a
reprise version as well which sound not at all different than the original!
2. Punjabi Mast
With a line borrowed from early this year’s What The Fish’s mildly catchy number “Suraj Ast Tey Babbe Mast” and looped for over thousand times in its 4 minutes duration, Punjabi Mast loses its Punjabi-ness to template ridden sounds and nonsensical English rap. Himesh, however, tries not to make it noisy even with those synthetic sounds and a line-up of singers than the song demanded (Himesh Reshammiya, Ankit Tiwari, Arya Acharya, Vineet Singh, Alam Gir Khan & Neeti Mohan).
It has a remix version too which is very rushed and pointless.
3. Chichora Piya
Standard Prabhudheva masala song which Pritam mastered in R… Rajkumar gets Himesh’s flair. This one has hangover of Rowdy Rathore with Himesh’s own Naino Se Baand from Bol Bachchan but fails to be catchy enough. Hard to digest, Shalmali Kholgade sang this. It’s remix is a laughable account on music composition. Just increase the tempo, bpm and *tada* your remix is ready!
4. Dhoom Dhaam
The romantic song of the album and typically generic at that. Thankfully, Himesh doesn’t sing this one. But Ankit Tiwari is not a suitable choice for this kind of song either. Even Palak Muchhal tries to sound as sweet as Shreya Ghoshal.
5. Gangster Baby
I was excited to read Neeraj Shridhar’s name in an album after a long time but where was he in the
song? No, seriously, could hardly hear him. Prabhudheva might get a chance to pull off some Jackson in the video for this one.
Action Jackson is the kind of album that makes me hate my job. I had to go through 5 painful songs and their remixes/reprises and whatnot just to tell you, you better don’t.
