Disaster Every bit of it!

There is nothing in the film that can justify the money and energy behind making it - shoddy writing, sad story, disgusting sequences and ridiculous editing - everything about the film is wrong. At best, it is an excuse for Prabhudheva to appear dancing on screen and the Ajay to go top less flaunting his muscles. Perhaps it is better Prabhuidheva stuck to remaking south films - at least then a basic apology of a story is guaranteed. Skip this one at any cost. (more)

Action Jackson, a surefire Golden Kela contender, could give Humshakals a run for its money. Give it a miss.

The film proffers the worst of everything obnoxious characters, mindless situations, juvenile action sequences, raucous music, bizarre dance routines and pathetically cheap gags with nary a sign of any redeeming feature that could lessen the blow. Prabhu Dheva the director seems to have lost it completely. But what, pray, was Ajay Devgn thinking when he chose to be part of this monstrosity? A title card at the end of Action Jackson declares that this is a film by Prabhu Dheva. A film? If this is cinema, anything shot with a movie camera is cinema. The titular star struts across the screen flaunting his muscles in two separate avatars one is a small-time Mumbai hoodlum who pours rum into pani-puris, the other is the loyal right hand man of a Bangkok mafia don. Ajay Devgn doesn't need to stoop this low.

This could have been an entertainingly retro comic-book revenge saga, especially because it has a dashing bad girl who has more screen time, and much more neon-lit presence, than everyone else in the flick.Prabhu Dheva had the smarts, he would have given Manasvi Mamgai a more filled-out part, and gone full leather-and-kink. But clearly that is not what the directors is after: his idea of entertainment is to have his leading lady gaze at the leading mans nether equipment and pass out. - (more)

Action Jackson is a milestone in feminist cinema

Action Jackson is a drinking game of a film, one well over the so-bad-its-good line, its main merit being that in a sea of superstar-massaging vehicles, it holds some genuine surprises -- and makes sure its hero looks like a jackass. Skip the first half and smuggle in a quart of something bitter, and youll be just fine. Not least because of how valiantly Mamgai shows up in the second half to combat Devgns monopoly on cleavage. He still does his GaGa-hands, but she more than steals the show and gives us a new-age vamp with genuine potential. Prabhudeva, bless him, gives us something too warped to be predictable, and it hurts how thrillingly close he came to getting the name just right. (more)

This one is strictly for Ajay Devgn fans

The story of Action Jackson has little new to offer except, maybe for the vamp. Manasvi Mamgai plays Xavier's sister who is crazily in love with AJ - Devgn. And she literally is CRAZY. Even her first shot in the movie, we see a girl surounded by tens of goons in a den. The girl is beaten rashly and is tied to a chair as one of the men letches and advances towards her. Right then, Devgn makes his entry and Manasvi doesn't even take a minute to change from the girl cringing under the men's advances to a woman drooling over AJ's body! Dear Manasvi, you were good as the model. Even later in the movie, she is seen as a fierce woman who cannot handle the rejection of a man. (more)

ACTION JACKSON is a highly avoidable affair.

The film starts off with the entry of Vishy (Ajay Devgn) in his regular fashion that's combined with lan and style. For reasons unexplained till almost the interval, Vishy is at the target point of many goons who follow him left, right and centre to bump him off. As if this wasn't enough, there comes Khushi (Sonakshi Sinha) who 'experiences good luck' in succession after seeing Vishy 'family jewels'. With this, Vishy adds one more 'stalker' to his list! It's only towards the interval that the audiences get to know that Vishy has a doppelganger by the name of 'AJ', who by profession is a killer.(more)

The comic relief that a brief character of Kunal Roy Kapur brings into an otherwise traumatizing film.

Truly putting it down, this movie is worth your watch for what I would list down as only two reasons. A) You are a die-hard Ajay Devgn fan. B) You are a fan of no-brainer movies. (Literally no-brainer), It would be difficult to start counting that as not only does the screenplay go haywire, but an unbearable soundtrack makes it extremely difficult to watch this film.(more)

Action Jackson is simply 145 mins of nothing.

Ajay Devgn is the only good part of this 145 minutes of nothing, he is sincere and does his part with full honesty; be it dance or action. Sonakshi Sinha continues to take up meaningless roles in commercial films which don't do any good to her. Prabhudeva is one of our best choreographers, his talent is unmatched when it comes to dance moves. But it's quite clear that choreography and direction are two different things. It's best to not mix the two. Action Jackson is just action scenes and random songs put together to fill 145 minutes of screen time. This film is beyond repair. (more)
