VIP Trailer Analysis - Dhanush is back with a bang
After a very forgettable outing with Naiyaandi, Dhanush is back with his next film Velai Illa Pattadhari, and, yeah, he is back in the way we would love to see him on the big screens -- rugged, witty, spontaneous and stylish. The trailer of the film was released today morning and it has impressed one and all.
Dhanush - The showstopper
Although Dhanush's body language and dialogues have strong traces of his previous films like Polladhavan and Thiruvilayadal Aarambam, one cannot refrain from enjoying his screen presence. The dialogues like "Actual eh, naan konjam bad boy sir" has struck the right chord with the youngsters. Dhanush also surprises with a 6-pack at the end of the trailer. Overall, this looks like a tailor made role for Dhanush, which he seems to have carried off in style.
Relatable premise
The premise of the film is pretty much relatable to the jobless engineers these days. There are some funny scenes like the one in which Dhanush watches a television soap along with his mom. We also get to see a little of Vivek in the trailer, who gets trolled by Dhanush.
Samuthirakani is seen in a different role as Dhanush's dad, while Saranya Ponvannan bags yet another mother's role. But, she can never get monotonous. She comes up with a dialogue "idhuku mela appa kitta aataya poda mudiyala", which has gone down well with the masses. Amala Paul, in what could be her last Tamil film, has a good rapport with Dhanush.
Music and editing
Anirudh's background score increases the fun quotient, while the usage of VIP's title track towards the end of the trailer packs a punch. Sharp cuts by editor MV Rajesh Kumar, that toggles between Dhanush's alternative avatars are impressive.
Directed by Velraj, Velai Illa Pattadhari looks like a runaway hit, thanks to Dhanush's signature style written all over it.
