Kamal Haasan clarifies on Uthama Villain First Look
The shooting of Kamal Haasan's Uthama Villain is progressing at a brisk pace. The first look of the film which was released a few days ago has created a huge buzz among the audience. However the first look poster with Kamal Hasan's heavily decorated face was mired in controversy as the looks very similar to that of a photo clicked by French photographer Eric Lafforgue, who was documenting Kerala's Theeyam dance form.
Kamal Haasan has now cleared the air on the first look poster controversy. "Theyyam (dance form and ritual in Kerala) is a more than a 1,000-year-old art. The make-up was done by a good artist, who is probably a third-generation practitioner of this art. The lighting might have been similar," the actor clarified.
Explaining the concept behind the first look, Kamal said, "My film has a Theyyam dance fusion with Tamil Nadu' s Kooththu tradition. That is not a mask. It is painted on my face. It took almost four hours to paint my face."
Uttama Villan chronicles the life of a superstar who decides to make a period comedy. Uthama Villain is directed by Ramesh Aravind. Jayaram and Urvashi play supporting cast. Ghibran scores the music. Dialogues by Crazy Mohan. The film is produced by Lingusamy's 'Thirrupathi Brothers'.
