Actor Manikandan is set to make his return to Tamil cinema with a new project backed by Pa Ranjith's Neelam Studios, with the first look scheduled for an August 5 release.

The film continues Ranjith's ongoing association with producer Aditi Anand, following Mari Selvaraj's Bison Kaalamaadan (2025). Aditi, who backed that film under Applause Entertainment, now joins hands with Ananya Birla's Birla Studios for this untitled project.

The announcement poster offers a striking visual — a desecrated idol standing amid ruins, holding a sickle and mace — accompanied by a caption suggesting the film centers on the resilience of the common man as its true hero. Further details are yet to be revealed.

Manikandan was last seen in the family drama Kudumbasthan (2025), and also lent his voice to Rishab Shetty's character in the Tamil version of Kantara: Chapter 1 (2025).
