Director H Vinoth has expressed happiness over Jana Nayagan's blockbuster run while admitting one significant regret — that an 'A' certificate from the CBFC limited the film's full potential. Speaking at a Behindwoods event, the director confirmed the film has grossed over Rs 100 crore in India and said, "If the film had received a U/A rating from CBFC, it would have become an unstoppable victory. But it's okay."

Vinoth also referenced the large-scale piracy that hit the film in April, with Chennai Police informing the Madras High Court that approximately 1.2 crore people had viewed the illegal leak. Despite this, he noted that audiences had extended full support, drawing on Vijay's own words: "Vijay would have written 'Needhi Vellum' (Justice will prevail). Today, I feel we have gotten that justice."

The film, originally slated for a Pongal release in January, finally reached theatres on July 23 after a six-month CBFC battle that resulted in an 'A' certificate with 12 cuts and modifications. It has since crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide in just four days and is tracking towards the Rs 300 crore milestone.
