With Jana Nayagan's theatrical run settling, attention is now turning to Suriya's Vishwanath & Sons, releasing on August 14. Director Venky Atluri has been actively promoting the film and recently opened up about one of its most discussed aspects — the 20-year age gap between Suriya and Mamitha Baiju's characters.

Venky revealed that the gap was originally conceived as 18 years before Suriya himself suggested stretching it to 20. "The difference between 18 and 19, and then 19 and 20, hits people differently. So we eventually made it 20. It was actually Suriya's call," he said.

The director also addressed the backlash that followed the casting announcement. He said he was privately confident the story would justify it, and that Suriya himself would share critical comments with him saying, "People will be satisfied once we reveal the reason." True to that, the teaser reception confirmed it — the story's context silenced most of the criticism.

"I wanted to explore something different. We've been telling the same conventional love story over and over again," Venky added, reflecting on what drew him to the film's premise.

Wishwanath & Sons also stars Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Nasser and others. The film releases August 14.
