Malavika Mohanan, who appeared in a brief but memorable role in Atharvaa-Preity Mukhundhan's Idhayam Murali (directed and produced by Aakash Baskaran), opened up this Wednesday about what made her cameo special.
Top of her list was getting to play a Tamil Nadu bride on screen. The film also brought her back together with costume designer Pallavi Singh, her collaborator from Master. Posting a series of photos from her bridal look, Malavika tagged Singh and noted that it had been a while since they'd worked on a film together, calling the collaboration "lovely."
Next up on her favourites was sharing a scene with Fahadh Faasil. She called it a fun moment with "FaFa," adding that the two have long talked about doing a full project together, and that this cameo would have to do for now — a nod to their years-long friendship.
Interestingly, Malavika and Fahadh share a deeper industry connection through Malayalam cinema. Her father, KU Mohanan, is a well-known cinematographer with credits including Talaash, Raees, and Andhadhun, while Fahadh's father Fazil is a respected Malayalam director and actor. The two actors were actually paired as leads in a 2015 project that got shelved midway through production.
Malavika also spoke fondly of the film's energy overall, saying working with the young, spirited Idhayam Murali team gave her major "back-in-college" vibes.
The film also stars Kayadu Lohar, Natty, Thaman S, Niharika NM, Sudhakar (of Parithabangal fame), and Dravid Selvam, among others.
