Tamil Film Producers Council Hits Back at Nadigar Sangam - Your Claim of Ignorance is Unacceptable

PUBLISHED DATE | 28/Apr/2026

The war of words between the Tamil Film Producers Council and Nadigar Sangam has escalated sharply. In a strongly worded letter, the Producers Council expressed its disappointment over Nadigar Sangam's public claim that they had no knowledge of the recent meeting regarding a revenue-sharing model — or of the proposed strike.

The Council revealed that despite multiple communications over the past three years, Nadigar Sangam has yet to share its stance on the revenue-sharing model — a Telugu cinema-inspired proposal where actors and all stakeholders share both profits and losses of a film. "Each time our two organisations attempted to initiate discussions, this matter was conveyed verbally by our representatives to the President, Vice Presidents, and Treasurer of your association. However, your statement to the media claiming ignorance of the matter is unacceptable," the letter stated pointedly.

The Council also clarified the intent behind the proposed strike — attributing it directly to the lack of response and cooperation from Nadigar Sangam, despite the organisation being fully aware of the financial losses faced by producers. However, the Council left the door open, stating that if Nadigar Sangam comes forward for immediate discussions, they are willing to reconsider the token strike. Failing that, the strike will proceed as announced.
