Dhanush had a fun surprise in store at the Hyderabad pre-release event for Kara — publicly pulling up director Venky Atluri for going off the radar after narrating a story to him. "He narrated a story long back and then disappeared," Dhanush said with a grin, before extending an open invitation for Venky to return with the same script.
The two last collaborated on Vaathi (2023) — simultaneously shot in Tamil and Telugu as Sir — which turned out to be one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of that year, earning Rs 105 crore worldwide. GV Prakash's music for the film even bagged the National Film Award for Best Music Direction.
Dhanush also congratulated Venky on the success of Lucky Baskhar and wished him well for his upcoming Vishwanath & Sons, starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, slated for July.
Whether Venky Atluri will take up the project after Vishwanath & Sons wraps remains to be seen, but Dhanush has made his interest clear.
Meanwhile, Kara — where Dhanush plays Karasaami, a robber caught in the 1991 Gulf War fuel crisis — releases in theatres on April 30, featuring Mamitha Baiju, Jayaram, KS Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, MS Bhaskar, Karunaas, Sreeja Ravi, and Prithvi Pandiarajan.
