Filmmaker Mari Selvaraj has shared intriguing details about his upcoming project with Dhanush, describing it as a unique blend of period, fantasy, and politics.
Speaking about the film, Mari Selvaraj revealed that it is set in a period backdrop and marks his first attempt at incorporating fantasy elements. “It is both a fantasy and a political film. The story begins at a particular point and will end at the same place,” he said.
Interestingly, the director added that the film will serve as a starting point that connects the worlds of his earlier works — Pariyerum Perumal, Karnan, Maamannan, and Vaazhai. He explained that the protagonist identifies key turning points and attempts to stop events right at the beginning itself, noting that while it may not be fully defined as fantasy, it will strongly carry that element.
Mari Selvaraj also admitted that the project requires extensive work and preparation. “After a long time, it is finally moving in the right direction. I need more energy and focus to bring this film to life,” he shared.
Revealing Dhanush’s reaction to the narration, the director said, “When I told him the story, he said, ‘Sir, this will be the biggest film of your career — and also the biggest film of mine.’”
The ambitious project is already generating strong buzz among fans.
