The shooting of actor Ravi Mohan’s 34th film Karathey Babu has been completed. The teaser, which was released a few weeks ago, offered an intriguing glimpse into the film’s politically charged narrative set within the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

The teaser featured Nasser as the sitting Chief Minister, who speaks about the politics surrounding the name of Ravi Mohan’s character. Ravi Mohan plays an opposition party MLA from Tamil Nadu, Shanmuga Babu, formerly known as “Karate Babu” — a name bestowed on him by the people of RK Nagar, hinting at the film’s central conflict revolving around identity and power.

Written and directed by Dada fame Ganesh K Babu, the film stars Daudee Jiwal as the female lead. The technical team includes Sam CS as music composer, Ezhil Arasu K as cinematographer, Kathiresh Alagesan as editor, Shanmugaraja as production designer, Dhilip Subbarayan handling action, Sathish Krishnan as choreographer, and Gayathri Balasubramanian as costume designer.

Karathey Babu is slated for a Summer 2026 theatrical release.
