STR 49 (tentative title) is an anticipated Tamil movie written and directed by Vetrimaaran, in his debut collaboration with actor Silambarasan TR. The movie is a production venture of Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations, and was scheduled for its first promo release on October 4, 2025 (Saturday).
However a day before the STR 49 promo release, producer Thanu has announced that the video will be delayed. Taking to his official X account, the STR 49 producer wrote,
"As per the demands of Simbu fans' love, the simultaneous release of the STR and Vetrimaaran film's first promo in theaters and on social media, will be a reward for the fans' patience for so many days. So, once the censor work is complete, and the grand preview will be released before your eyes soon. This is a special moment to express our gratitude to the fans for the trust and love they have placed in the STR-Vettimaran alliance.🌸

STR 49 is set in the same universe as Vada Chennai (2018), a North Chennai gangster action drama, headlined and produced by Dhanush. However STR 49 is not the sequel Vada Chennai 2.
