The 71st National Film Awards took place in New Delhi on September 23, 2025, and the winners were conferred with the awards by President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
The ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhavan, and winners from the Tamil film industry included MS Bhaskar (Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Parking shared with Vijayaraghavan for the Malayalam film Pookkaalam), Parking film writer Ramkumar Balakrishnan (Best Screenplay Writer - Original shared with Sai Rajesh Neelam for the Telugu film Baby), Parking film director Ramkumar Balakrishnan, and producers Passion Studios (Best Tamil Film), and Vaathi film's music composer GV Prakash Kumar (Best Music Direction - Songs).
GV Prakash received the Silver Lotus Award called the Rajat Kamal, and a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs for his Best Music Direction - Songs award. This is GV Prakash's second National Film award after his 'Best Music Direction - Score' win for Soorarai Pottru (2020) at the 68th National Film Awards held in 2022.

MS Bhaskar also received the Silver Lotus Rajat Kamal award, sharing his cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs with Mollywood actor Vijayaraghavan. Parking director Ramkumar Balakirshnan received two Silver Lotus Rajat Kamals, one for Best Screenplay - Original, and the other for Best Tamil film. Ramkumar Balakrishnan shares his cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs for Best Writer with Telugu film writer Sai Rajesh.
Ramkumar Balakrishnan also shares his cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs from the Best Tamil film award with Parking film's producers Passion Studios.
