First Look of Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer Starring Jayasurya and Anushka Shetty Released

The first look of “Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer” has been unveiled, creating excitement as one of the biggest Malayalam films of 2025.

The film is a fantasy thriller based on the legendary 9th-century Christian priest Kadamattathu Kathanar, believed to have magical powers. Jayasurya plays the lead role, shown in the first look as a mystical warrior on a cliff with stormy skies, symbolizing his powers.

The tagline, “The one who steals your time, your mind, your reality,” reflects the film’s supernatural and psychological themes.

Cast & Crew

Anushka Shetty makes her Malayalam debut as Nila / Kalliyankattu Neeli. Other cast members include Prabhu Deva, Vineeth, Sandy Master, Kulpreet Yadav, and Nitish Bharadwaj.
Directed and edited by Rojin Thomas, with cinematography by Neil D’Cunha and music by Rahul Subrahmanian.

Production & Release

Produced by Gokulam Gopalan under Sree Gokulam Movies, the film is a pan-India project using advanced virtual production technology. Filming took about one and a half years.
The release, originally planned for 2024, is now set for late 2025 in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi
