Actor-politician Vijay recently held his second political maanadu in Madurai, where he stirred discussions with a sharp statement.

Addressing the gathering, Vijay remarked in Tamil: “நான் ஒன்றும் மார்க்கெட் போன பிறகு, ஓய்வு பெற்ற பிறகு, அடைக்கலம் தேடி அரசியலுக்கு வரவில்லை. மக்கள் ஆதரவு எனும் படைக்கலத்துடன் அரசியலுக்கு வந்திருக்கிறேன்.”

The comment was widely interpreted as a veiled dig at veteran actor Kamal Haasan, who entered politics after decades in cinema.

When reporters approached Kamal Haasan for a reaction, he chose to maintain dignity. Calmly dismissing the speculation, Kamal said he could not respond to comments without a direct address. “Did Vijay mention any name?” he asked. When journalists confirmed he hadn’t, Kamal replied, “Then it is not proper to answer an address-less letter.”

He further added that Vijay is like a brother to him and gracefully moved on, avoiding any escalation.
