Six new movies have hit theaters screens this Friday in India. Here is quick look at all of them, and the movies to watch out for this week:

1. Thalaivan Thalaivii (Tamil)

Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen's debut collaboration under filmmaker Pandiraj's direction is just the film to be watched with the family in theaters. The movie follows the story of 'Agasaveeran', and 'Perarasi' getting married hurriedly amidst family hurdles, but face a gap in the relationship post the wedding. How their families get together in a public space to reunite them forms the crux of the story.

With a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes, Thalaivan Thalaivii provides ample entertainment, and good comedy. Besides the lead actors,  Chemban Vinod Jose, Deepa Shankar, and Yogi Babu are a delight to watch on screen.

2. Maareesan (Tamil)

Maareesan starring Fahadh Faasil, Vadivelu in the lead is definitely watchable for its interesting lead characters. With a runtime of 2 hours and 34 minutes, this Sudeesh Shankar directed film is however on the lines of Malayalam slow burners, and hence might not be everyone's cup of tea.

The film is an adventure drama where a thief and a middle aged man with Alzheimer's, end up travelling together for their own reasons.

3. Su From So (Kannada)

With a runtime of 2 hours and 17 minutes, Su From So is a Kannada language social horror comedy that released in theaters on July 25, 2025. The movie is lead and directed by debutant JP Thuminad, who plays the central character Ashoka in the film.

Su From So follows Ashoka's crush that unleashes strange events in the village, forcing everyone to believe that he's brought a ghost along with his feelings. Actor-director Raj B Shetty has produced Su From So, which has garnered positive praise from critics for being original, and a laugh riot.

Due to the good audience reception, Su From So has been getting additional screens in Karnataka since release, and the film premieres in USA on August 1, 2025. The movie also stars Shaneel Gautham, Sandhya Arakere, Prakash Thuminadu, Deepak Rai Panaje, among others.

4. The Fantastic Four: First Steps (English)

Starring Pedro Pascal in the lead, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is the second reboot of Marvel’s Fantastic Four movies, that are based on Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s comic books. Despite its short runtime of 1 hour and 54 minutes, Fantastic Four: First Steps doesn't provide as much entertainment as an MCU movie would, but still holds key plot points to its sequel, and the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday

The Fantastic Four: First Steps set in the 1960s rehashes the story of how four astronautsReed, Sue, Ben and Johnnyget their superpowers from cosmic rays on mission to outer space, and in their quest as 'guardians of the earth', face Galactus, Marvel's biggest villain after Thanos.

5. Hari Hara Veera Mallu - Part 1 Sword Vs Spirit (Telugu)

A big period action that is poor in execution, Hari Hara Veera Mallu - Part 1 Sword Vs Spirit, stars Pawan Kalyan, Bobby Deol, Niddhi Agarwal, is produced by AM Rathnam, directed by Jyothi Krisna and Krish Jagarlamudi, and has music by the Oscar winning MM Keeravani.

6. Mahavatar Narsimha (Hindi)

A Hindu mythological film that follows the story of Hiranyakashyap, a demon, who challenges Lord Vishnu proclaiming himself a god. Hiranyakashyap's son Prahlad is however a Vishnu devotee, and how Hindu God Vishnu takes the Narsimha avatar to defeat the demon is what the movie is about.

Mahavatar Narasimha is an animation film written, directed, and edited by filmmaker Ashwin Kumar. The movie comes with a runtime of 2 hours 11 minutes, and has Sam CS for music. Despite the grand scale of the production, and familiarity behind the film's lore, Mahavatar Narasimha is average at best.
