L2: Empuraan also known as L2E is an upcoming Malayalam language political action thriller, and the film starring Mohanlal in the lead, is directed by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. A sequel to Lucifer (2019), L2E features Mohanlal in dual roles as Stephen Nedumpally, and Khureshi Ab'raam, and is scheduled to release in theaters on March 27, 2025.  

At this time L2E's writer, director Prithviraj has shared on X that Tamil star actor Rajinikanth was the first person to view the L2E trailer, and was also one of the first people to praise the movie. Sharing a still with Rajini at his residence, Prithviraj wrote on March 18, 2025:

"The very first person to watch the trailer of #L2E #EMPURAAN I will forever cherish what you said after watching it Sir! This meant the world to me! Fanboy forever! @rajinikanth #OGSuperstar"

L2E also stars Abhimanyu Singh, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Andrea Tivadar, Jerome Flynn, Indrajith Sukumaran, Suraj Venjaramoodu, among others. The U/A censored film comes with a runtime of 2 hours and 59 minutes. 

L2: Empuraan is the second film in Prithviraj directed trilogy of movies, and actor Mohanlal has called the films the 'biggest' of his career. L2: Empuraan is jointly produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions.

The movie has Deepak Dev for music, Sujith Vaassudev for cinematography, Akhilesh Mohan for edits.
