Vaa Vaathiyaar is an upcoming action comedy written and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy of Soodhu Kavvum (2013), Kaadhalum Kadandhu Pogum (2016) fame. The movie has actor Karthi playing a fun cop, Inspector Rameshwaram while Krithi Shetty plays female lead. 

A production venture of Studio Green, Vaa Vathiyaar is gearing up for a theatrical release next year. Latest buzz is that Vaa Vaathiyaar's release date is January 24, 2025, marking the Republic day weekend. An official announcement on the same is however awaited. 

Vaa Vaathiyaar pays homage to late actor politician MG Ramachandran (MGR), who earned the nickname 'Vaathiyaar' after the Vaangaiya Vaathiyaar Ayya song from his 1969 movie Nam Nadu. Karthi, Nalan Kumarasamy's movie also stars Sathyaraj as villain, Rajkiran as Karthi's MGR loving grandfather, Karunakaran as a cop, Anand Raj, among others.

Vaa Vaathiyaar's technical crew includes Santhosh Narayanan for music,  George C. Williams for cinematography, D.R.K.Kiran for production design, Vetre Krishnan for edits, ‘Anl’ Arasu for action, Vishnu Govind for audiography, Vivek, Muthamil for lyrics, and Sandy / M Sherif for choreography.
