Amaran starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead is a biographical war action film that is slated to release in theaters on October 31, 2024 for Diwali. The movie like other Tamil movies off late will have a Premium Large Format (PLF) release, however what sets Amaran apart is the meticulous planning that has gone into converting the film to PLF for over two months.

PLF 4K by EPIC-QUBE provides a full screen experience as opposed to the normal cine scope which comes with black borders at the top and bottom while viewing. PLF 4K screens has been steadily growing ever since it was first popularized by the Tamil movie Beast in 2022, in an attempt at luring audience from OTT back to theaters, and providing an immersive experience.

These days, most Tamil movies also release on PLF format in addition to standard. However the Tamil cine audience have noticed a pattern of lax, in the conversion of movies to the PLF format. Just in 2024, the viewers have expressed disappointment with the PLF screenings of even big productions like Vettaiyan (Rajinikanth), and The Greatest of All Time (Vijay).

Amaran produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, and Sony Pictures India, promises of no black borders on EPIQ screens. Amaran additionally will release in BigPix, IMAX (Flat), and XD for an enhanced viewing experience.

Based on the life of late Indian Army major Mukund Varadarajan (played by Sivakarthikeyan), Amaran written and directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, also stars Sai Pallavi as Mukund's wife Indu Rebecca Varghese, Bhuvan Arora as Sepoy Vikram Singh who lost his life in an Shopian encounter alongside Mukund, and Rahul Bose as Mukund's Commanding Officer Colonel Amit Singh Dabbas, who narrated Mukund's chapter in the book 'India's Most FearlessTrue Stories of Modern Millitary' by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.
