Amaran: Sai Pallavi as Indhu Rebecca Varghese in Mukund Varadarajan's biopic

Amaran starring Tamil star actor Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, is an upcoming biopic on late Major Mukund Varadarajan, an Indian Army officer from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and a recipient of India's highest peacetime military decoration award, the Ashoka Chakra. Actress Sai Pallavi plays Mukund V's long-time girlfriend turned wife in the movie, and Sai Pallavi's intro as Indhu Rebecca Varghese was unveiled on Friday.

Indhu Rebecca Varghese had been married to Mukund V for less than 5 years, and was a young mother to a then 3 year old, when her 31 year old Indian army Major husband succumbed to gun shot injuries from a terrorist encounter in 2014. The sheer courage Indhu Rebecca Varghese displayed around her husband's sacrifice for the nation, remains indelible even after a decade.

Indhu Rebecca Varghese's quote on National television, "What the country needs to see today is the man he (husband Mukund Varadarajan) was. Not my (a grieving wife's) sorrow", and she receiving Mukund V's posthumous Ashoka Chakra from then President Pranab Mukherjhee, in the presence of former USA President Barrack Obama, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have been included in Sai Pallavi's intro video from Amaran

 

With screenplay by Stefan Ritcher and Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, and is based on chapter from India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Millitary bookby Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. The movie is a production venture of Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, and Sony Pictures Films India.

The technical crew of Amaran includes GV Prakash Kumar for music, CH Sai for cinematography, and R. Kalaivanan for edits. Amaran releases in theaters on October 31, 2024 for Diwali.
