Kalki 2989 AD written and directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas (as Bhairava), Deepika Padukone (as Padma), Amitabh Bachchan (as Ashwatthama) in the lead, is an upcoming sci-fi movie that is all set to release in theaters worldwide on June 27, 2024 [Thursday]. Kalki 2898 AD, which is touted to be one of Indian cinema's costliest movie to date, had a trailer release today and the same can be viewed above (Telugu) and below (Hindi).

Set against the backdrop of a dystopian Kaashi, the world's first and last city, Kalki 2898 AD chronicles the events of the Hindu mythology Mahabharata. A pregnant Padma (Deepika Padukone) is all set to give birth to Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of Lord Vishnu, in a world where even water is scarce. 

How Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), bound to protect the birth of this Hindu God, Bhairava (Prabhas) a self-centered yet skilled bounty hunter with a cool AI vehicle, and the villains who set out the bounty for Padma and her to-be-born, get entangled in a war, is what forms the rest of the story. 

A production venture of Vyjayanthi Movies, Kalki 2898 AD's technical crew includes Santhosh Narayanan for music, Djordje Stojiljkovic for cinematography, Sai Madhav Burra for dialogues, and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao for edits. Kalki 2898 AD is scheduled to hit theater screens in Telugu, Hindi languages.
