Malayalam survival thriller Manjummel Boys written and directed by Chidambaram S Poduval released in theaters on February 22, 2024, and has taken the Tamil cine audience by storm. Manjummel Boys is set around a group of young men from Kerala who are out to explore Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu. What happens when they reach Gunaa cave, the place where Kamal Haasan's 1991 hit Guna was shot, is what forms the rest of the story.

Manjummel Boys pays homage to not just Kamal Haasan, but also to music composer Ilaiyaraaja's famous number Kanmani Anbodu Kadhalan, which has lyrics by the late Vaali and is sung by Kamal Haasan, late S Janaki.
