Leo produced by 7 Screen Studios is an upcoming action thriller starring actor Vijay in the lead. 7 Screen Studios has previously co-produced, distributed Vijay's Master (2021) and co-distributed the actor's Varisu (2023), with MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. 

Red Giant Movies is a prominent distribution player in Tamil Nadu, and most Tamil movies coming out of Kollywood are presented by the banner. However Leo, scheduled to release on October 19, 2023 will not be distributed by the DMK scion's company. 

Actor Vijay is currently gearing up for his own political entry and he is expected to contest in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. In lieu of the same, the makers of Leo have decided to avoid conflicts of interest*, and instead present Leo via other proficient, and in-command distributors in every region in Tamil Nadu. 

* - In 2022, Vikram starring and produced by actor-politician Kamal Haasan was distributed by political opponent Udhayanidhi Stalin. Movie-buffs and politicos were divided over this collaboration, though the two themselves were able to separate films and politics.   

Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Leo is said to be part of the filmmaker's LCU cinematic universe also stars Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Menon, Mysskin, Priya Anand, Mansoor Ali Khan among others. The film has music by Anirudh.
