Indian 2, the ambitious sequel of director Shankar and actor Kamal Haasan is one the movies that has been long-awaited by the Tamil cine audience. While shooting of the film is currently underway, latest reports suggest that Indian 2 plans to wrap shooting by May, 2023. It is also being said that the movie aims to release in theaters for the big holiday i.e. Diwali in November, 2023.

Diwali this year falls on a Sunday i.e. November 12, 2023; If Indian 2 indeed comes out that weekend, then the movie's release date will most likely be November 8 or 9. The movie will next be shot in South Africa where a train fight sequence will also be canned. 

A sequel to Shankar-Kamal Haasan's 1996 hit movie Indian, Indian 2 is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. The movie also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Gulshan Grover, Siddharth, Nedumudi Venu (late), Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha among others. Indian 2 has Anirudh for music and the sequel also uses AR Rahman's signature tunes for the original.
