In Tamil Nadu, with the Bohi festival here already, the family audience are slowly but surely walking out to see the Tamil version in theaters. Varisu, as the title suggests is centered around a family feud over the next business heir and largely focuses on a business tycoon's relationship with his own three sons. While each of the sons have their own shade to them, actor Vijay's eponymous lead character is shown to be the son who shuns his father over his toxic trait. Yet he is the first one to to helping his father's business and reuniting his feuding family.
This much needed importance of familial values (over money and other desirable factors) seem to have struck a chord with the family audience, as seen in responses outside theaters.
