The first official teaser of Mani Ratnam directed Ponniyin Selvan has dropped and the video gives viewers a glimpse of the grandeur that awaits. Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 is set in the Chola Empire where the crown prince Aditya Karikalan's love story with Queen Nandini proves costly for his family and kingdom. PS-I also stars Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha among others and is set to release in theaters on September 30, 2022. 

Lyca Productions, Madras Talkies have produced PS-I and it has Ravi Varman for cinematography, AR Rahman for music and Sreekar Prasad for edits. The film is scheduled to release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada languages.
