Chennai based actor Siddharth is trending on Twitter today after a wave of backlash over his quote tweet on Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal. Nehwal, a former world No: 1 and an Olympics bronze medalist is an open supporter of the ruling BJP regime in India and her twitter posts often reflect the same. Recently she tweeted against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's car-hijack incident, where in Saina condemned the blockade of his convoy on a flyover in Ferozepur.
Actor Siddharth, who has also been open about his opposition for the BJP government joined the many voices on Twitter in mocking Saina, who believed that Narendra Modi's security lapse was being media-hyped ahead of the five-state polls.
However Siddharth's word-play went horribly wrong and the actor is now under fire for sexually colouring his dig.
Saina Nehwal has been a resident of Telenagana for many years now and the Hyderabad police's Twitter handle was found redirecting Siddharth's tweet to the Cyber Crimes' handle today.
Update: Siddharth has now responded to the incident by tweeting that he word-played on the idiom 'cock and bull' (meaning absolutely rubbish/unbelievable) and did not intend sexual undertones as implied.
"COCK & BULL"

That's the reference. Reading otherwise is unfair and leading!
Nothing disrespectful was intended, said or insinuated. Period. 🙏🏽
