PUBLISHED DATE | 22/Nov/2021

Internet sensation Yohani, who is a Srilankan received severe backlash from the Tamil community when she worked with Kollywood musician Harris Jayaraj. Yohani's father had served in the Srilankan ARMY during the country's civil war with LTTE and this was the main reason for the rejection she faced.

Yohani's song with Harris Jayaraj then went on to be supposedly removed from the project it was meant to be, due to this controversy. Now in an interview with a Indian-Tamil news channel, the singer has opened up on this topic.

"I did record a song with Harris Jayaraj but am not aware of what happened to it. He didn't tell me what project it was for.. I'm an artist, Music is my everything. My father takes care of the production of my songs. I cannot force someone to like me.

My music band has a lot of Tamil people. I love everyone. We (Sinhalese and Tamils) get along well in Srilanka. Of course I have Tamil friends".

In this same interview Yohani also added that she is open to working in all languages including Tamil, especially with A.R. Rahman, her favourite Kollywood musicians are ARR, Harris and that she likes singers Arivu and Dhee.
