A week ago, actor Vijay Sethupathi's minor daughter was issued rape threats by a now suspended twitter user @ItsRithikRajh whom the Chennai Police and allegedly the interpol having been trying to trace back to Sri Lanka. Two days back a Srilankan channel IBC Tamil claimed to have tracked the user and posted an 'apology' video from him after blurring his face.

Legitimacy of the person aside, one could call the video that was posted hardly an apology for reasons listed below:

• The said person claims that the 'mental pressure' from loosing his job during the pandemic and Vijay Sethupathi's acting in the movie of a Sri Lankan government supporter caused him to 'use such language'. He doesn't however cite reasons for his previous crass tweets.

• The person claims that other than for Vijay Sethupathi's daughter, he has never behaved like this online conveniently forgetting the obscenity that was found on his earlier tweets, or the crude language he used for actress Kasthuri on twitter following the incident.

• The person also claims that the Indian media is trying to portray him in a negative light when the fact is unless a user has a 'history of objectionable tweets', Twitter does not suspend an unverified account.

Though the person talks about how his family and his life will be affected if Vijay Sethupathi takes action, he shows no signs of remorse for his behaviour towards actress Kasthuri which almost ignited an uncalled for Vijay-Ajith fan-war online. Checkout his full video here:
