Among the films that are planning on resuming shooting in the Tamil cine industry, Mani Ratnam directed epic project Ponniyin Selvan is one. Latest update on the movie is that despite the COVID-19 situation, the team has planned to resume shooting at an overseas location, this time in Srilanka. 

It is being said that the crew might leave the country to resume shooting schedule from September 20, 2020. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, Ponniyin Selvan is a two-part big budget project which has a star line-up of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi among others and has music by A.R. Rahman.

The film was last canned at Thailand and is looking at shooting in places which have a forest/jungle set-up.
