The Tamil film fraternity was sent into a state of shock on Friday after legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam's critical health condition was outed by the hospital officials. Reacting to the same, his close friend of many years composer Ilayaraja released a heart-felt video message late last night.

“Balu, get up and come back soon. I am waiting for you”, started an emotional Ilayaraja who then went on to say,

“Our lives don't end with just cinema. It didn't start with cinema either. The music, which we started off with at some program on some stage, has become our life and our livelihood.

 

The music and friendship which took off at those stage shows-just like how music is inseparable from its notes, our friendship has also not parted.

 

It was always friendship, when we fought and even when we didn't fight. You know this well and so do I.”

SPB tested positive for COVID-19 on August 5, 2020 and gotten himself admitted to a private hospital at Chennai. His health faced a set-back in the late hours of August 13, 2020 and the singer was placed on life-support after that. Meanwhile, the singer's sister SP Vasantha has stated that her brother’s will power with the prayers of all his well-wishers and God’s grace, will help in his swift recovery.
