R Madhavan is gearing up for the release of Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, a biopic based on the life of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan. The film marks his directorial debut as well. The 'Vikram Vedha' actor has collaborated with Singer Mary Chandler Hicks for a song in the film. Sam CS is scoring the music.

Before Madhavan donned the director’s hat, Ananth Mahadevan who was supposed to helm the project opted out due to other important commitments. Simran plays his love interest. Rocketry is set to be simultaneously released in English, Tamil and Hindi.  Reportedly Madhavan will sport three different looks for the film. 

Nambi Narayanan was falsely charged with espionage and arrested in 1994. However, the charges against Narayanan were dismissed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 1996, after which he was declared not guilty by the Supreme Court of India in 1998.
