The 17th Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) which began on December 12 came to end on Thursday (Dec 19). 130 films from across 55 countries were screened at the festival. Ottha Seruppu Size 7, Sillu Karuppatti, Bakrid, Asuran, Ratchasan and Jiivi were awarded prizes as part of the Tamil Film Competition section.
Parthiepan’s 'OS 7' won the first prize for the best Tamil feature film, while the second prize was shared by Vikranth’s 'Bakrid' and Halitha Shameem’s ‘Sillu Karuppatti’. Dhanush’s Asuran won special jury award. The awards were distributed at the closing ceremony on Thursday evening.
Out of the 19 entries received by CIFF, 12 Tamil movies have been selected for competition which competes for the prize money of Rs. 7 lakh. The 12 shortlisted films include Adutha Saattai, Asuran, Bakrid, House Owner, Jiivi, Kanaa, Mei, Oththa Seruppu Size 7, Pizhai, Seethakaathi, Sillu Karuppatti and Thozhar Venkatesan.
