Trisha onboard for Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan

Actress Trisha has reportedly bagged a role in Mani Ratnam's magnum-opus  'Ponniyin Selvan'. We had earlier reported that the 'Petta' actress has been approached for an important role, a TOI report has now been confirmed that Trisha is onboard for the period drama.

 

Interestingly Trisha who starrred in Mani Ratnam's multi-starrer film Ayudha Ezuthu (2004) is reuniting with the director again after 15 years. Trisha's upcoming films include Raangi, Sugar, Paramapadam Vilayattu, Garjanai and Sathuranga Vettai 2.

 

The pre-production work of Ponniyan Selvan is happening in full swing and the film is expected to go on floors in December in Thailand. The film boasts of an ensemble cast which includes Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Keerthy Suresh, Aishwarya Rai, Amala Paul, Parthiban, Lal and Jyothika among others. 

 

Ponniyin Selvan is based on the Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy. The epic drama produced by Lyca Productions, is being planned on a magnanimous scale and will have two parts similar to the Baahubali series. An official announcement about the project is expected soon.
