Kerala Actress Abduction Case: SC rejects Dileep's plea for Memory Card!

PUBLISHED DATE | 29/Nov/2019

The Supreme court (SC) on Friday (November 29, 2019) rejected Malayalam actor Dileep's plea access to a memory card that supposedly containing visuals of the sexual crime committed on a Kerala actress in February, 2017. Justices A M Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheswari thus upheld the Kerala High Court's judgment, which too had refused Dileep's plea for contents of the memory card; however they have allowed him to inspect the video, provided the privacy of the victim is not compromised.

It is worth mentioning here that actor Dileep, who is accused as the 'mastermind' behind the abduction and assault case of the actress, is said to have the viewed the contents of the memory card in the chamber of Judicial First Class Magistrate along with his lawyers.

Also, previously the Kerala High Court while dismissing Dileep's plea had stated, "The crux of the prosecution allegation is that, offence was committed for the purpose of recording it on a medium. Memory card is the medium on which it was recorded..It is hence a material object and not a documentary evidence."
