It is a well known fact that Vijay commands a huge fan base in Kerala next to TamilNadu. There's a big craze for his films as most of Thalapathy's film have done good business there. His recent release Bigil has emerged as the highest grossing Tamil movie this year. The film which has raked in Rs. 14 cr in its first week has made a share of Rs. 6+ cr. Kerala is the first territory where Bigil has entered profit zone in a very less time.
Prithvijraj's Magic Frames has acquired the distribution rights of the film in Kerala. While fans and distributors are rejoicing over the film's success in the state, the news however has not gone down well with the Film Exhibitors Association in Kerala. FEUOK (Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala) has banned Magic Frames from the association for violating the rules on OL (other language) releases in Kerala by releasing Bigil in more than 200+ screens. Distributors Association (Kerala) had imposed a new rule in the beginning of the year, restricting the wide release of other language films to a maximum of 125 screens.
In an official statement, FEUOK has asked the distributors to pay a part of 'Bigil's share as a penalty for breaking the rule, failing which Producers Association and Distributors association has decided not to co-operate with Magic Frames and will ban the release of their future films as well.
