The hugely awaited 'Bigil' starring Vijay and Nayanthara in the lead roles directed by Atlee has opened to mixed reviews from the critics and audience. The film has turned out to be a huge money spinner at the box office across all quarters. In Australia, Bigil has emerged as the biggest opening weekend grosser this year (2019). The sports drama has minted A$418,710 (Rs. 2.02 cr) beating the record of Rajinikanth's Petta which had collected A$416,524 in its opening weekend.

Both Superstar Rajinikanth and Vijay films have been continuously dominating Australian Box Office amongst Tamil releases. Bigil has fetched the fifth place in the list of the all-time highest opening weekend grossing Tamil films. The film is expected to move up the chart by the end of its theatrical run.
