Chhichhore starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Sharma in the lead roles hit the screens worldwide on September 6. The film has largely received positive reviews from film critics and audience. Director Nitesh Tiwari’s college drama has gained momentum at the box office this weekend. The film which had a slow start on its opening day had collected Rs. 7.32 cr. 

Chhichhore has raked in Rs. 35. 98 cr in its opening weekend, thanks to the positive word-of-mouth as the film's business saw immense growth on its second and third day in theatres. Sharing the box office figures, Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, "#Chhichhore wins hearts, woos BO... Goes on an overdrive on Day 3... Solid trending helps put up a super total... Multiplexes are rocking... Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities push biz forward... Fri 7.32 cr, Sat 12.25 cr, Sun 16.41 cr. Chhichhore has managed to become Sushant's second highest opening weekend grosser. Though unable to surpass the opening weekend collections of his previous release MS Dhoni: The Untold story that had collected Rs. 66 cr, Chhichhore has beaten the collection of Kedarnath that collected Rs. 27.75 cr. Comparing the opening weekend collection of Sushant Singh's previous releases with Chhichhore, Taran Adarsh wrote:
