Love Action Drama Review - A Fun Ride With A Vibrant Nivin Pauly

Dhyan Sreenivasan's debut directorial 'Love Action Drama' is very much a brother piece to his brother Vineeth Sreenivasan's much acclaimed hit 'Thattathin Marayathu'. There are more than one or two similarities to map out. To begin witj the obvious.. both films have Nivin Pauly and Aju Varghese in a supreme form. In both films, when the hero meets the heroine in a wedding.. also, in both films, they trip over and get hospitalized.

After bunch of serious films like Hey Jude, Ritchie, Kayamkulam Kochunni, Sakhavu and Michael.. Nivin Pauly as Dinesh is carefree, sober and plays out an hyper flirtatious and enthusiastic role. He sells the most silliest of comedy and cheesiest of pickup lines with his presence. His dynamics with Aju Varghese over the years really etch out the duo in a full-on fun ride.

It is pretty sad that Nayantara is again conceived more as a star actress than as a performer like how Trisha was given a role in Hey Jude or Aishwarya Rajesh in Sakhavu. She pretty much does the same thing she has done in umpteen other Tamil films. Warning the hero when he stalks - Secretly admiring it - Breaking down when he fails to get over his 'fuck boy' phase - Eventually end up with him with uproaring of music. The character doesn't have much shades to offer as well. Except for the fact that she is referred as 'feminist' by a male character.. we hardly get any trait to prove it whatsoever.

I loved certain brilliance that shined here and there like how an interval sequence is executed with popcorn flying all over gets sequentially prepared subtly way before with Aju's character taking a tub of popcorn. But otherwise, the film does everything dramatic and melodramatic. It even features a scene where a foreigner woman speaks in broken Manglish to console him and asks him to go after her.

The trap of two married men trying to spoil the marriage of their wives friend.. just because she peeps in their lives too much could have made into a story on its own. But the film brushes away all that and wanders around Dinesh's dumb play and him getting out of his drunkardness. By the time it actually lands on this story, everything gets rushed up just to pave into a climax.

There is an ensemble cast that makes the film a delight to watch. From cinematography to music.. the film deserves a theatrical watch if you would love to have a no brainer that will simply offer you solid entertainment, good laugh and a cinema that joyfully embraces a star ride.

Bottomline: Dhyan Sreenivasan's debut directorial 'Love Action Drama' is a pretty joyful entertainer that doesn't care much about magic or logic. After quite a gap, in this out and out fun ride, Nivin Pauly gets back to his vibrant best.
