G.V.Prakash Kumar will be composing music for Karikalan, starring Vikram. The movie is a period film and demands much from G.V.Prakash Kumar. The composer has already proved himself in the period flick Madrasapatinam.
G.V.P scored the music for Vijay-Vikram's Deiva Thirumagal (79%)which was a big hit. Interestingly, the composer has also signed up for director Vijay's next untitled project.

Karikalan is directed by LI Kannan. Says Kannan - "This movie will be along the lines of 'Gladiator' and 'Troy'". He also adds that Vikram will be playing the title role of Karikala Cholan. LI Kannan has immense experience working with special effects and he was part of the Endhiran team. Two cities - Kaveripoompatnam and Uraiyur, from Chola Dynasty will be recreated using sets and graphics. Every care is being taken to recreate the landscape 2000 years back during Chola dynasty.

Zarine Khan, who made her debut in Hindi film Veer along with Salman Khan, is one of the heroines.
