Akshay Kumar's affinity towards films from the South is no news for the 'Khiladi' actor has been featured in over a dozen South remakes, including remakes of Tamil films such as Pammal K Sambandham (Kambhakt Ishq), Ramana (Gabbar is Back), Thuppaki (Holiday), Veeram (upcoming Bachchan Pandey) and Kanchana (upcoming Laxmmi Bomb).
Vijay starrer Kaththi is the latest Tamil film to be added to this list for reports of Akshay Kumar joining hands with Jagan Shakthi, director of his upcoming Mission Mangal for the remake of the same have surfaced. The film has been titled Ikka in Hindi and according to the director will "resonate with the underprivileged section of the society."
While other details of Akshay Kumar's Kaththi remake are yet to surface, his Veeram remake Bachchan Pandey recently had a first look poster release which garnered a lot of attention for Akshay's sporting of silk dhoti, golden chains and sacred ash on his forehead. The film is directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and will be releasing for Christmas, 2020.
Laxmmi Bomb, remake of Kanchana on the other hand is waiting to enter schedule two with Raghava Lawrence as its director. The film also stars Kiara Advani and Madhavan among others and Akshay Kumar will be seen as a man possessed by a transgender ghost. Laxmmi Bomb releases June 5, 2020.
