It has been known for a while that Atlee directed sports-entertainer Bigil which has Vijay in the lead will wrap up by August, 2019 so as to gear up for a Diwali release this year. Reportedly, the film will begin its final schedule on August 10, 2019 and will hope to compete by the end of that month.

Bigil has Vijay playing dual roles of father and son - a local thug and a football player cum coach and has Nayanthara playing female lead. Actors Vivek and Yogi Babu will be seen providing the comic relief and this AGS Entertainment produced film has A.R. Rahman for music.
